What's going on with #TheLoft?

VERSIONE ITALIANA SOTTO

Okay, so it’s been a while since I’ve posted an update here. But life happens and it happens in the best way. So you might be curious as to what’s going on with #The Loft. I had hoped to be open for this summer, but as I said, life happens. For instance, one of the reasons I have postponed opening #The Loft was, I wanted my guests to see the space a)once it was completely finished and b) I wanted #The Loft to have a bit more a focused idea and now it does. What is the focus exactly? I’ll tell you.

Growing up, my parents constantly read to me and exposed me to books. I still remember sitting on my father’s knee, reading an anthology of E.B. White Books (Charlotte’s Web, Stuart Little and The Trumpet of the Swan). Thus, from an early age, books became an important part of my life. Whether I was sitting on the radiator next to the window curled up with a book in the winter or staying up until 3am to finish whatever I was reading, books are just have the power to satisfy your mind and soul.

The whole idea of #The Loft was to create an intimate, unique and cozy dining experience. That is still of course the plan, but why not bring books into the picture? Imagine an intimate, unique and cozy kitchen/library/dining room. Food is still the main focus, but now books will play an important part as well. #The Loft will feature a book case, with books in English and Italian. We will have a book exchange program where you can borrow a book and are encouraged to leave a book on our shelf as well, should you no longer need them. We will also be hosting a monthly book club, which will cumulate with a dinner based on the book of the month, as well as a discussion about the book (should you choose to read it or just enjoy the dinner!). The space will also include our “reading sofa”, filled with pillows featuring quotes from some of my favorite books and authors, should guests feel like taking a break from dinner and want to curl up with a good book.

In the meantime, while I am still finishing up the space, #The Loft will also be hosting private cooking experiences. We plan a three course menu (appetizer, entrée and dessert), shop for the ingredients together, cook in #The Loft and enjoy the meal on my terrace. We can prepare American, Spanish, Middle Eastern, Thai, Chinese, Indian or Brazilian. If you have any questions you can contact me at lacucinaprimadonna@hotmail.com.

Here’s to good wine, good food, good friends and good books.

Ecco a buon vino, buon cibo, buoni amici e buoni libri.
